Manny Machado Traded To Dodgers For Five Prospects

Manny Machado, Dodgers

Superstar shortstop Manny Machado is the newest member of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

According to multiple reports, the Dodgers completed a deal with the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday, sending the soon-to-be-free-agent to LA in exchange for five minor league prospects. The minor league prospects included in the deal are Yusniel Diaz, Rylan Bannon, Dean Kremer, Zach Pop and Breyvic Valera.

Diaz, a top OF prospect and the star of this week's Futures Game, was the centerpiece in the deal. Fans can head to MLB Pipeline to learn more about the prospects the Dodgers are parting with.

The players involved in the trade have reportedly been notified.

Machado was drafted No. 3 overall by the Orioles in the 2010 MLB Draft, and made his major league debut in 2012 playing exclusively at third base. He has since moved into a role as an everyday shortstop, a role he will resume with the Dodgers given Corey Seager's season-long absence following Tommy John Surgery.

The 26-year-old experienced his best hitting season in 2016, batting .294 with 37 home runs and 96 RBIs, and could be set to surpass these marks in 2018. Machado is currently hitting .315 with 24 home runs and 65 RBIs through 96 games this season.
