Marcus Mumford Links Up With Major Lazer For 'Lay Your Head On Me'

Mumford & Sons' Marcus Mumford is bending genres with his recent collaboration with Major Lazer.

On Thursday (March 26), Mumford and the Diplo-fronted EDM group dropped their uplifting new song, “Lay Your Head On Me.” You may be pleasantly surprised by the electro-heavy track instead of the folky, banjo-heavy songs we usually hear from Mumford.

Mumford doesn't stray too far from his positive lyrics on the new track and the song is the optimism we need in these trying times.

Mumford sings in the first verse: “And this too shall pass, this too shall pass/ It won’t always be the same/ And every single scar that you claim/ Is a stone in the path to this place/ And every single choice that you make/ Has led you this way so lay your head on me”

Mumford announced the new song through Instagram on Tuesday (March 24) when he made his very first post from a brand new personal account.

Diplo took to Instagram to give a little more background on the song and revealed he wrote it over a year ago. “when I wrote this song over a year ago. I never thought it would be released in a time like this... you might be in your house going crazy these days I hope this song brings you a little bit of joy. (Disclosure : you shouldn't be laying your head on anyone right now , it's just figurative),” he captioned his post.

“Lay Your Head On Me” isn't the only new music Mumford shared with fans this month. Last week, he and his bandmates released a song called “You'll Never Walk Alone,” and are donating proceeds to coronavirus relief. All record royalties and record company profits from the track will go to Grenfell Foundation and Warchild UK.
