Arcade Fire Perform 'Sprawl II' To Celebrate 'The Suburbs' 10th Anniversary

Arcade Fire: Reflektor Tour With Dan Deacon, The Unicorns and DJ Steve Mackey

Arcade Fire's third album The Suburbs turned 10 on August 2, and to celebrate the milestone Régine Chassagne and Win Butler shared a backyard performance of "Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)" on Instagram. Butler filmed the DIY clip on his cellphone while manning a mixing board, as Chassagne sang, danced, and waved pom poms.

“Hi, guys,” Butler said to fans at the end. “Thank you. Stay safe out there.”

The couple also shared a message through the video's caption. "The Suburbs is 10 years old now. Can’t wait to all play music together again. Until then, stay safe and well 💙" they wrote, followed by lyrics to the song's chorus.

While the anniversary is something to celebrate, unfortunately it doesn't sound like we'll be getting new Arcade Fire music any time soon. Though Win recently revealed the band was working on a new album, his brother Will Butler admitted it hasn't been going well because of the coronavirus pandemic.

“Arcade Fire was recording. Well, we were recording… But now our drummer is in Australia, two of us are in Canada, and the rest are in America,” Will said in an interview. “Australia [is] having a crazy outbreak, the border to Canada is sealed right now… like, Jesus Christ. It takes more logistics to get together. It always took a certain amount of logistics, but right now it’s insurmountable.”

“None of us quite have the file management skills for it to be creative at the moment,” he added.
