Joe Burrow's Season Appears Over After Gruesome Knee Injury

Cincinnati Bengals v Washington Football Team

Cincinnati Bengals quarterbackย Joe Burrowย wasย carted off the field with a gruesome-looking knee injuryย during the third quarter in Sunday's (November 22) game against the Washington Football Team.

Washington defendersย Jonathan Allenย andย Montez Sweatย sandwiched Burrow after he threw a pass intended forย Tyler Boyd. Burrow's knee bent awkwardly as his body was crushed between the two linemen. Burrow grabbed at his left leg and appeared to be in immense pain as trainers attended to him on the field.

He was carted off the field as players from both teams wished him well.

Burrow, who was the number one overall pick in the NFL Draft, was having a great season, even though the Bengals are 2-7-1 on the year. He was on pace to become the first rookie in league history to have six 300-yard passing games in his first 10 games. For the season, Burrowย completed 242 of 370 passes, throwing for 2,485 yards and 12 touchdowns. He threw just five interceptions.

He managed to put up those numbers despite being constantly under pressure from defenders. Going into Sunday's game, Burrow had been hit a league-high 72 times.

While the Bengals have not provided an update on Burrow's injury, heย insinuated that he will miss the rest of the seasonย on Twitter.

"Thanks for all the love. Can't get rid of me that easy. See ya next yearโœŠ," he tweeted.
